Eight women came to stay at this lovely home for a birthday weekend. The house was immaculate, and Compton couldn't have been more welcoming on our arrival. We all enjoyed sitting by the chiminea on the deck the first evening, and the living room had plenty of seating for our group to sit around and visit another evening. The view from the back deck was so nice and peaceful all day long. Beds were extremely comfortable, too. We hope to return next year.
Our extended family group had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Poplar's Edge. The owners were extremely responsive to all our advance questions and requests. They left a loaf of home made banana bread for us, fresh flowers throughout the house, and told us we were welcome to use the canoes, fishing gear, trampoline, and fire pit, and we did. And had lots of fun! Their home was supplied with coffee, tea, napkins, and many staple food items that they said we could use. The house was beautiful and comfortable. The surroundings are breathtaking. We were fortunate enough to have perfect weather - crisp and cool and there was still gorgeous fall color in spite of it being late November. Everyone in our group kept saying over and over that it was an amazing and wonderful place. And, unlike most VRBO homes we've stayed in, they didn't require us to wash the linens or run the dishwasher. That made leaving so much easier. I can't praise this place, its owners, and our stay there enough. Mary B.
Compton was wonderful to work with -- from booking the reservation to arrival. The house is impeccable -- neat, clean, appropriately appointed, lovely furnishings. We were greeted with a fresh loaf of cinnamon bread to start our stay, which was delicious! The grounds are beautiful. Can't say enough great things about this property.
Our book group rented this house for a get a way weekend, and it was an outstanding choice. It was conveniently located about 7 minutes from the UVA campus, but in a lovely and secluded neighborhood. The accomodations were excellent, and the kitchen in particular was well stocked and large. The back deck and firepit looking out over the pond was a favorite hang out spot for our group. We would rent this house again in a heartbeat.
This was the perfect set-up for eight adults in for a wedding weekend. Clean, comfortable and expertly appointed, including the the kitchen appliances and cookware. We had a beautiful, mild fall weekend in a peaceful neighborhood yet still close to all Charlottesville has to offer. This home would be a lovely and relaxing spot any time of year. Anytime spent on the deck is time well spent.
