We had an amazing time at this beautiful lake house. There are three beautiful rooms and a large loft space that could have slept several more people than we had (5 for the first two nights and 7 for the last two nights). The kitchen has mostly everything that you would need during your stay with plenty of cookware, utensils, dishware, etc. The dining table was set up for us all to be able to sit there but it could have fit at least one more (8 total). The living room area is beautiful with vaulted ceilings and a gorgeous fire place. One piece of advice would be to watch the YouTube video for the fireplace to know how to set the fire as it's a bit more complicated than most but incredibly warm. The rooms were all well appointed with comfy beds. The two bathrooms were beautiful and even had shampoo, conditioner, and soap waiting in the showers (a great touch!). Overall, we had a great stay. The house is gorgeous, serene, and I can only imagine even more beautiful in the summer. I would only say one negative thing about this rental and that is the driveway. If you plan on staying here, you will need a car with either four wheel/all wheel drive or snow tires/chains. The drive down from Rt. 100 is a steep switchback road with a very steep portion right before the house (going down isn't the problem though). All of our cars had a bit of trouble getting up that first leg in the mornings, particularly the one with front wheel drive; we ended up having to break out the snow chains to get it up the driveway. All that being said, we had a wonderful stay and had a lot of fun at Jay Peak which is about a 30 minute drive north.
This was the perfect place to gather with friends, spend quality time together, and celebrate life. From the serene lake scene that lay beyond the endless windows to the cozy fireplace and heated floors, this was a beautiful refuge. The unexpected touches of hospitality were delightful. We will definitely be back.
Home and location were perfect for our family getaway. The kayaks and canoe were a treat for all of us! Home is beautiful and very well appointed. The Xbox and all of the games were great for the kids. Will definitely try to make it back there again!
From the moment we walked in the front door, we knew we were in for a fabulous week ahead. The lakehouse was stunning with beautiful views of the waterfront through the multitude of windows in the great room. The amentities were that of a 4 star hotel, with soft towels and comfortable bedding and pillows. The home was fully appointed with all that was needed to prepare bountiful meals that were enjoyed on the outside patio overlooking the lake. The lake was clear and refreshing and the swimming dock, paddleboards and kayaks provided hours of fun each day for both the kids and adults. The location on the lake was perfect as it was quiet and relaxing and frequented by a friendly family of ducks, and both red squirrels and chipmunks, who began to take peanuts right from the kids hands! Each night we enjoyed watching the sun set and the family of loons swim by our shore as they fished for their dinner. We are thankful for the hospitality of Nick and Tara (and their attention to detail in the renovation of their beautiful lakehouse) for the relaxing and fun week spent at Lake Eden!
The listing description was very accurate in regards to location, layout and amenities. The owners far exceeded our expectations in the type of amenities provided in the kitchen and bathroom. We all agreed that their home was our favorite of all we have rented in the past . The home is very clean and well maintained. Their father-in-law was quick to respond to our need to have the gas grill tank refilled. The location is breathtaking, quiet and the spacious outdoor area to relax and or dine serene. There is an abundance of wildlife to observe-fish, turtles, ducks, blue herons and loons. Our grandchildren enjoyed fishing for sunfish off the dock. Our youngest grandchild delighted in having a float to swim out to and jump off MULTIPLE times. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards. The outdoor shower was a plus. Sitting at sunset by the waters edge making S'mores by the fire, and listening to our granddaughter play the ukelele were memories we shall always treasure. We would definitely recommend the Montalto's home to friends and relatives and we hope to return in the future. Jay Peak is nearby and the indoor water park was enjoyed by our grandchildren. We dined at Harrison's in Stowe and would recommend it. Reservations are needed. A trip to Ben and Jerry's was great. Keep in mind that it may be crowded and you may have to wait for a tour.
