Great property for our extended family of 14. Room with 2 bunk beds was perfect for the 5 younger kids from 9-14yo (we had a sofa twin bed). They enjoyed watching Direct TV kid shows and playing tablet games with each other using the strong Wi-Fi. Very clean! Beautiful, classy decor. The rooms, large outside decks, and living area were in the 2nd and 3rd floor. We cooked most of our meals but HEB and Paul's seafood market was not far away (14 miles). Sheets, towels, a few extra air mattresses, many extra pillows, cooking utensils, plates, cutlery were provided. Only a few beach houses currently in this upscale neighborhood and the nearest hotel Port Royal was too far away for their guests to crowd our large section of the Gulf beach (the sand was soft and swimming in the ocean was a wonderful experience unlike the Pacific and Atlantic beaches). Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. There is even a large community pool on the way to the Gulf right next to the beach access but we were the only ones that used it. (Just bring your own lantern at night.) The owner was very prompt and helpful with my questions before we booked, during the 2 months leading up to our stay, during and after our stay. Good memories and hopefully better and deeper relationships were built during this vacation. I haven't been to South Padre but I don't know a better place on the Texas shoreline to take a family. Would stay here again and again.
Clean, fun and plenty of room!
This is the second time we have stayed at Villa Pamplona, and we enjoyed our time immensely. The house is the perfect size for our group, the living area is open to the kitchen and dining room, which is ideal for cooking, visiting, and watching kids all at once. The big TV is perfect for watching football. The appliances all work as expected. We love being able to cook our own meals and do laundry during our stay. The decks are a great size, and perfectly oriented toward the north east, so it is shaded in the afternoon. The top and bottom decks connect to each other, but not to ground level, which worked well for our little kids - we could let them have autonomy going up and down exploring, without worrying about them getting to the water or the street. You can see the ocean from the deck. The body of water just below the deck attracts wild life: turtles, fish, dragonflies, and all kinds of birds. We actually got to see a heron and an osprey up close because they landed on the deck railing a couple of evenings. The proximity to the beach is great, an easy walk, even with a toddler. The community pool is a fun bonus, which our kids loved.
Having stayed in the neighborhood before, at the house across the street, I knew more or less what to expect. The boardwalk to the beach and the pool are a few blocks away - walking distance for many but not for all especially with beach gear in tow. Our solution? Load up the truck and park at the curb next to the pool and unload there. Another solution would be to rent a cart, as the boardwalk is large enough to accommodate one. Vehicle access to the beach is approximately 3 miles away so it's not practical but the neighborhood's isolation means no crowds at the beach. Seriously, it's like having the entire beach to yourself. Unlike the house across the street, the first level of this home is off limits to guests so although it is a spacious 3-story home, you only have access to the top two floors. That's ok because they are well laid out with plenty of space between bedrooms (Master is at the top with living/dining room and kitchen, other three bedrooms are on the second floor). As with almost any modern beach home, there are lots of stairs so be aware of this when traveling with young children or others with trouble getting around. Bring wide child gates if your babies are mobile. The furnishings are comfortable and kitchen accessories were plenty for feeding 8 adults. There seemed to be a shortage of paper goods but that's not uncommon with rentals so plan to bring your own. The beds could use some improvement but again, par for the course when it comes to rentals. Plenty of towels and blankets are available which was a bonus. The biggest surprise for us with this property is the massive amount of deck space. Built facing the backyard lagoon with great views of the ocean and as a bonus, the lower level deck receives shade from the top level which makes for a great retreat from the afternoon sun without losing the relaxing sea breeze. We will definitely seek out this property again for future trips. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
House was well-equipped and a short walk/drive to the beach. The pool was great for the kids to cool off after the beach. Lots of room and good for entertaining! Located just off the highway.
