Spend a lovely weekend in January with 60 degree weather at this beautiful cabin! Lots to do on the property, in addition to all the hiking available in Hocking Hills. Highly recommend this place!
This is our 2nd year in a row staying here because it's just such a beautiful place to stay. My family has been taking a fall trip the last 13 years. This is the only place we've decided to repeatedly stay. It's just perfect! The Lodge is very well stocked with any supplies you could ever need. The property is truly breathtaking. The Lake, the kayaks, the fishing was fantastic! We discovered several beautiful hiking trails...you don't ever have to leave the property!! We had over a dozen deer! The hot tub, fire ring, swingset, ping pong table all got used on a regular basis!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
The lake house amenities were a pleasing surprise with the dock, the beach and the gazebo. The water was crystal clear but I was surprised at the smallness of the lake area. Walking up the stairs to the deck I was dismayed to see scattered garage under the deck & boys underwear on the chair on the deck. The interior of the house was spacious and fitted our 10 people perfectly. Although the loft bedroom had a sliding barn door for privacy from the loft bunk beds it was not entirely closed off. The beds, the mattresses and linens were good but I would have liked to have more pillows on the beds. The bathrooms were good with more than enough towels. We were told to bring shampoo but it should also be noted there was not soap for showers. The softened water was especially pleasing. My biggest disappointment was the lack of cleanliness of the kitchen area. I have decided the house was not cleaned recently prior to my arrival. There were sash flies on the window sills and in some of the cabinets. Although dead, they were not pleasant to see. The pots from previous renters were still greasy. Once we cleaned the cabinets and & swept the floor, we had a wonderful vacation. Just a reminder that on our return I will have a large can of Lysol Wipes with me should I need to clean again.
The property is spectacular. The pond is great with a beach, dock and kayaks to use. The kitchen/living/main area is very spacious and goodie gathering. There is a large table that seats 10 or more. There are two bedrooms that are private. The rest of the sleeping is open area. The upstairs loft has a sliding door but is open to main area. It was about 100 degrees all weekend and the air struggled to keep it below 75 degrees until night time and then it only dropped to 72 one night. This was our only negative. We had 10 adults and 4 kids. The kids had their own bedding (pack n plays) that we brought but all the adults slept in a bed comfortably with room for at least 4 more in beds. There was an atv trail that started on opposite of pond and went up through woods. It was a great little hike. The grill is a charcoal grill that you see at a park not the one we saw in the pictures. The hot tub fits 6 easy and works great! The most spectacular part is the stars at night. Turn off the lights and you can see a bunch of stars us city folk never see. Highly recommend.
Overall, a nice place especially for families with dogs. Some of the outdoor furniture is a little long in the tooth and should be repaired Some days the wifi worked and other days it didn't- the unpredictability of that was an inconvenience. The lake itself was wonderful
