About this listing

Located on the Elandsgracht, this is truly the center of the Jordaan neighborhood. The Prinsengracht (famous canal) is at the corner with 9 Streets (famous shopping streets) right across the bridge. Plenty of great shops, restaurants, things to see and feel local! THE SPACE There is a feeling of comfort and being in your own home here. Maybe because I'm American and like everything big, but both the couch and bed are big and comfortable. The apartment is one above ground floor (US - 2nd, EU - 1st) GUEST ACCESS You have the entire apartment to yourself. You have a nice set of dishes/utensils for cooking, washer/dryer, TV, Cable, Wifi. You will have a whole chest of 6 drawers for clothes (since I keep the closet for myself). There is a coat closet to hang clothes in the kitchen (2 ft / 60 cm wide). INTERACTION WITH GUESTS I have someone come in to greet and show you around the place when you arrive. In case any questions or help needed they will be available to call. THE NEIGHBORHOOD The neighborhood has the feel of living in the Amsterdam you see on pictures. It has a very local feel (a bit uppity) right in the center despite being a stone's throw from away everything. Personally, I like that I can spend a whole weekend without even leaving the neighborhood! (butcher, baker, grocer, barber, pastry shop, 10's of restaurants, and sheik pop-up shops are literally within a 150 meter radius here). Check it out for yourself: www (DOT) elandsgracht (DOT) com/?lang=EN Also, the 9 Streets start at the end of the street (30 meters) :) de9straatjes (DOT) nl/en/home GETTING AROUND: You can walk anywhere from here (Leidseplein 5 minutes, Museumplein 15 mins) really the most recommended way (especially if you're visiting the first time) is via Bicycle! Trams that connect you to anywhere are 200 meters away (Lijn 17, 10, 5) The main bus station is also at the end of the street that will take you directly to the airport (Bus 197 every 17 minutes) or even the Beach in Haarlem.

Gabrielle is a delightful person and a fantastic host. Nothing was too much trouble and she made sure I had everything I needed. Gabrielle introduced me to her neighbours/friends, which made me feel like

Fantastic apartment with everything you need! The area the apartment is located is great too with supermarket and other amenities minutes away. Myself and my partner came to stay for the New Year celebrations and was definitely not disappointed! Peter was a fantastic host communication was perfect and answered all the questions we had. Also Paini was there to show us around the apartment and was very welcoming! Will definitely be returning!

We have visited Amsterdam many times over the last 20 years. Of all the places we've stayed Peter's apartment has the best combination of location, comfort, and price. The living room is super comfortable and the bedroom contains an excellent large king bed. There are many shops (a supermarket next door) and restaurants within a block or two. If you can try Balthazars Keuken which is right down the street. The only downside is the steep stairs - something you must deal with in almost all Amsterdam apartments. Very highly recommended. Will definitely stay again.

This is a great rental! Big, comfortable living area and kitchen, separate large bedroom, dark and quiet, in the back. The location is fabulous, so many attractions, quality restaurants, pubs/bars/brown cafe's, coffeeshops, within minutes of walking. The tram/bus stop is very close, easy to get to the apartment from Centraal Station on the 17 tram, or take bus 197 from the airport. We used Uber to/from airport for $26.00. Taking the train is fun, cheap, and easy, but, been there/done that. Elandsgracht is quite lively at times. This is a real neighborhood, the morning/afternoon rush hours are busy, deliveries at the Albert Heijn next door, cars, scooters, etc that some may find too noisy, but I love the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. I love the street noise, churchbells, clanging trams, but when it's time for bed, just close the door to the bedroom and you'll hear none of that. We slept soooo good here, and I'm a very light sleeper. Heated floor in bathroom, big shower, great water pressure, two toilets, all a big plus! Contacting Peter was easy, and expedient, no waiting for days for answers to questions. Paini greeted us immediately upon arrival at the renal . She was lovely, helpful, and showed us all the features of Peter's home. The couch was comfy, big tv for watching a bit if you want, lots of channels, but it also had a lot of music stations as well. The wifi was a bit touchy, but we discovered a few other free wifi links, I'm sure you will, too. My wife and I have rented 4 different apartments and one hotel over 8 visits, and I couldn't ask for anything more than Peter has to offer in this rental. Peter and Paini, dank je wel! We hadden een geweldige tijd! Het beste ermee, Matt and Lynn

The apartment was perfect for us- well equipped kitchen, spacious, great shower, comfortable bed. The location is ideal: grocery store next door as well as a bakery and great cheese shop, restaurants, shops, art galleries, etc. We were able to walk everywhere including museums and other attractions. We would definitely stay there again.

November 2016

I loved Pete's apartment in the Jordaan district. My goal was to get away from city center and the museum district and this was a perfect choice. His apartment is large for a European rental and fully equipped. He provided converters for my devices, and small things impress me such as the slightly heated bathroom floor. Entry is on a busy neighborhood street but the bedroom and main bath (there are 2) looks out at the small space between buildings. I am a light sleeper and was able to leave the back windows open. I didn't get to meet Peter but Paini greeted me with a smile and welcome gift and a tour of the apartment - the first time anyone has shown me the washer/dryer procedures! Staying here allowed me to fully enjoy Amsterdam life and culture and I hope to visit again soon. Thanks Peter!
