Down a quiet country road, not far from Route 1 but set back from the bustle of summer traffic, a traditional cape style home awaits your vacationing family. This home, one of the oldest on Schoodic Peninsula, has been recently remodeled with an upgraded kitchen, two beautiful bathrooms, washer/dryer, and comfortable sleeping quarters for 4. We had a good time at our home away from home! It was nicely furnished and stocked with nearly everything you'd need if you have to cook. We were disappointed that it wasn't clean when we arrived - moldy grounds in the coffee pot that former renter should have cleaned out, sink and floor hadn't been cleaned very well either. It was a quiet place to stay which was great. We had to turn up the heat and were quite happy that the furnace worked well once the maintenance man came (within a very short time of calling) and got it going:) It is a great place to stay if you have a family as the upstairs has two single beds. Fun to see the old beams that were used in the remodel. Very friendly host to work with over the phone and internet. Short drive to the ocean. Maine is beautiful and Home Away is the way to go!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very comfy, lovingly renovated home. The location is excellent and served as a convenient base for our day trips. Highly recommend.
We visited Maine for our 20th anniversary and had a fabulous time. This beautiful home contributed in a great way. Close to Acadia yet private and away from the crowds, we enjoyed having a cozy "home" to retire to at the end of each day. The decor is beautiful and true Maine style. The kitchen is gorgeous. The beds are comfortable. The owners left us a gift of fresh layed eggs and preserves in the fridge--YUM! The bathrooms were gorgeous. The photos don't do it justice. We hope to stay here again in the future.
The only thing that would have made our stay any better would have been more time! From the moment we unlocked the door to a welcoming jar of blueberry jam and farm fresh eggs to the end of the trip when we had to drag the kids out of the loft to the car for the return trip we felt at home. The cottage is open and inviting with all the modern amenities and rustic appeal of wood, granite, and glass. Our kids absolutely loved staying in the loft looking up at the stars as though they were camping. The location on the Schoodic Peninsula was the low key type of vacation we were looking for and it's really not more than 45min to the hustle of Bar Harbor. Things we recommend: Lunch on the wharf in Corea, Hiking the Sunrise Trail, Soaking in the stars at the cabin!
The house appears to have just been remodeled and was immaculate. New appliances, wonderful bathrooms, comfortable beds. We could not have had a better time. The online pictures for the house do not do it justice.
