This was our second year to stay there and we hope to go back next year. It's very comfortable and not far to outdoor activities and Bar Harbor.
The location was perfect for us. It was a 6 unit building, so very quiet. We stayed in Crows nest and enjoyed being on the top floor. When we first arrived it was very late from our long drive, we walked in and felt right at home. A bunch of information was laid out for us to find our way around the areas attractions. Everything was neat and very clean. The owner thought of everything we could possible need if we had forgot something. We came to go to Acadia national park and did the first day but this rental is closer to Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula. This side is peaceful and was just want we were looking for on our long run day. This rental is a hidden gem!
This is a well appointed one bedroom, one bath condo just a mile from Acadia's North East corner. We were very happy to enjoy the local community as this area is the "road less traveled" portion of Acadia. One issue we had is that our teen children were very uncomfortable on the pullout couch. Poor quality and sunken it was more usable when we put the mattress on the floor.
The unit was in a little house-type building with 5 other units, each with its own theme. The unit we stayed in was called the Crow's Nest and seemed to have a nautical theme. It was evident that the owner put a lot of thought and heart into decorating it. I believe there were other units in the building were bigger. There was an ample size bedroom with attached bathroom and a pull-out couch in the living room, small kitchen/dining area with pots, pans, utensils, etc. Good for a family traveling with small kids who can share a bed. There was a local restaurant across the street with decent food and atmosphere called the Pickled Wrinkle. Winter Harbor is a few miles away and has a few additional restaurants. It is near the Schoodic Point and an hour away from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
We wanted a comfortable, clean, reasonably priced place near Acadia National Park, but not so close to the tourist crowds. This was perfect for us. The Birch Harbor and Winter Harbor areas are beautiful and peaceful, with many experiences and opportunities for nature lovers. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. At the end of the day, we felt like we were coming home, but still on vacation. Kristen was available and quick to help when we locked ourselves out. All the kitchen basics were provided, the bed was comfortable, and we were even able to do some Bird watching from the large, light windows in the living room area. We had a lovely vacation staying at Acadia Vacation Rentals.
